The AccuVent Cathedral Ceiling Starter Baffle is designed for vaulted ceiling and unvented spray foam applications where proper airflow and insulation protection are critical. This baffle acts as the first piece in a continuous ventilation system, attaching to the top plate and beginning the ventilation channel that leads up to the ridge vent.
This dual-purpose baffle is ideal for cathedral ceiling assemblies and works with all common insulation types—including blown-in, batt, and spray foam insulation—making it a versatile solution for both ventilated and unvented attic applications. In spray foam systems, it also functions as a spray template, helping maintain a consistent 1" ventilation space between the roof sheathing and insulation—critical for code compliance and long-term roof performance.
Constructed from 100% recycled, flame-retardant PVC, the starter baffle is durable, lightweight, and compatible with all types of insulation, including spray foam. It installs easily with just a few staples and is designed to work with AccuVent Cathedral Extension Baffles to complete the ventilation path along the roof slope.
Each baffle measures 14.5" wide by 48" long, with a 1" depth to maintain proper airflow in cathedral ceiling spaces. It attaches at the top plate and serves as the starting point for a continuous ventilation path—also working as a spray foam guide to keep a clear 1" air space between insulation and roof sheathing.
